Check this out!

Hey everyone. I know that this is my second fashion related post in a row, but I think you'll be interested! I found this while google-ing something, and have been obsessed since! Ever heard of Rue LaLa? I didn't either, but now that I do- I'm impressed! Rue LaLa is a website that has "boutiques" for design clothing, shoes, jewelery, and much much more! They sell at a fraction of the price, because the items are overstocked, and have the "boutiques" open for two days- so be aware that they can sell out fast if you don't move! Some of the brands that have been featured include Betsey Johnson, Juicy Couture, Gucci, and many more! I highly reccomend this site for high end items for less! Right now they are in the middle of two final sales- and the prices are amazing!
I expect everyone to check it out!

Spring Trends: 2010

This will be the first of a series of 5 blog posts, posted sporadically, of looks that will be too hot to touch this spring! I'll start each post with a little background on the idea, and then get on to how to execute it! Today I'm doing outfit, and you'll just have to wait for the other 4!

Two trends that are the main part of this post are floral patterns and boyfriend blazers. I personally like if you have one or two trends, then add very basic clothing items- like plain flats or a white tee! This outfit is definitely something that I would wear to school with tights, and once it gets a little bit warmer without! So without anymore jibber jabber, here's the post! (At the end I have some suggestions for hair and makeup that would compliment this outfit- so keep reading!)

This whole look is very spring and floral and very spirit lifting- at least to me! The main points are the blazer, skirt, and necklace. This look can be paired with tights if its still cold in your area, and will look great without them! I suggest wearing your hair up and simple, because you wouldn't want to take away from the outfit. This look can be worn with very simple flats, but if you want something more intricate I have a suggestion at the bottom!

Floral skirt:
This item it practically a necessity for spring! One HUGE trend is floral patterns, and this my favorite way to express that! This skirt has a band that's about as thick as four of my fingers and expands. I don't find the band uncomfortable or annoying, but that it defines the smallest part of ones waist. This one is from Forever 21, and I don't normally like to include prices but...IT WAS $8.50!! And it doesn't feel cheap at all!

Boyfriend Blazer:
This jacket is relatively new, but I already love it! As I stated in my Lauren Conrad makeup look, this is one of her staple clothing items- and I understand why! You could wear this with just about anything! This jacket does have a button, but I prefer to keep if open because it find it makes the jacket more casual. I suggest keeping your jacket a soft black, not too intense! I also suggest a shorter sleeve.  My sleeve goes right below my elbow and is cinched. I like the sleeve and cinching because it gives the blazer a feminine twist! (See sleeve in second picture). I also added a plain white tee under because it makes the jacket stand out. I got my jacket from Nordstrom!

Chunky or Long Necklace:
I love necklaces, and with a simple top- this spices it up! I chose to go for a chunkier necklace, but this look would also work with something longer- maybe layered necklaces? This one has a bunch of skinny strand that consist of brown/copper, bright blue, and green. I also love how it has different shaped beads! I highly suggest wearing jewelery that spices your outfit up, otherwise you can look boring. HINT: Don't add "spicy" jewelery when your top is loud and not simple, or else it will take away from the top!

Possible Shoes:
These flats would also be a great way to spice up the outfit because the lower part of your leg has nothing, maybe tights, but other than that- nothing! This look would do fine with plain flats, but if you want to go fancier I suggest a flat with a jewel or definitive design. As you can see in the second picture, these flats have a cluster of multi-shaped black jewels that lay on a bed of extra fabric. I love the purple color of these because it picks up the purple in the skirt!

Makeup: Keep it neutral and simple. Some concealer, bronzer, lipgloss, and a couple coats of mascara is the most you would need!
Hair: Try the Lauren Conrad braid, but after you braid pull your hair up into a ponytail. I have a post on how to do this braid, so go check that out!

And there you have it! This is only the first post- so stay tuned for the other four!
And tell me if you like fashion posts, because their fun to do!

Current Top 5 Nail Polishes (It changes every week...!)

I am going to come right out and say it...I LOVE NAIL POLISH!!!!! I love everything about it. The formulations, and mostly the fact that your FINGERNAILS are an actual COLOR. I mean, I feel like nail polish is taken for granted...:( Just kidding. Well, its obvious I have had my lethal amount of sugar today, so lets get on with my top 5. Because this changes so often I picked the colors I have been wearing the most. I have also found an amazing online beauty supply shop (link at end of post) that sells nail polish at an amazing price. And when I say amazing I'm talking like $2 for China Glaze and $5 for OPI! What a steal! Any way here are my 5! (In random order, its too hard to rank them!)

China glaze: "Ruby Pumps"
I love love love this red! It has the perfect amount of glitter without being too tacky. The only down side is it can take a while to get off!

China glaze: "For Audrey"
This is a GORGEOUS Tiffany Blue, the picture makes it look green, but if you really want to see the color google "Tiffany Blue"!
FUN FACT: Tiffany and Co. trademarked their shade of blue! So this nail polish technically is different...

OPI: "Sea? I Told You!"
This color I find very much resembles "Teal the Cows Come Home" by OPI. But, I love it! It is this gorgeous bright blue with shimmer. One thing I love about this nail polish is that, when held up to the light, it has a green tint!

 OPI: "Mod About You"

This is the perfect bright-white-pink. I love how it can be pink, but still very light, and even has a tint of purple! I find that when I where this color it really brightens my mood!

OPI: "Feeling' Hot-Hot-Hot!"
This is a really pretty hot pink, without being too hot! It has no shimmer or duo-chrome, because it is a creamy shade- which I like. It almost has an orange tint...but that may just be my eyes playing tricks! Either way if I were to recommend hot pinks this would be on my list!

So, there are my top 5 (for now) nail polishes!! Here's the link to the online beauty supply shop: http://www.8ty8beauty.com/index.html

They are 100% professional and I received my order within the first week!
See you guys later!

How to: Make your own eyeshadow primer!

Primers can range from about $4-$45 (don't quote me- this is just form Sephora!), and that's a lot of money for something that you put UNDER your eyeshadow. Some of the most known are Urban Decay Primer Potion ($18) and Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($17). Now, I wanted to find a way to get across this money spending spree without sacrificing quality. I searched and searched for a good way to make a primer that is good quality (lot's of goods!). And I finally found the recipe! This is using only two actual products and requires only 4 materials. Anyone who tries this and owns a more expensive primer, like Urban Decay Primer Potion, please let me know how it holds up! I either expect it to fail epically or do pretty well! I can see the blog post now: "HOMEMADE PRIMER VS. URBAN DECAY: THE ULTIMATE BRAWL!". Anyway without wasting anymore of your time, here's how you make it!

Materials (I feel like I'm writing a Lab Report!):
  • Body butter (I used one from Sephora)- preferably one with a thick consistency
  • Some form of liquid foundation (I used a Chanel one with shimmer because I can't use it on my face alone)- this can have shine because it will give our eye that extra pop
  • An empty container (I used an empty Clinique eye cream)
  • A mixing utensil (Haha- I used a pen!)

Step 1. Fill the container about half way with the body butter, if you take too much just rub it on your hands!

Step 2: Pour about a nickel sized amount of liquid foundation into the body butter, if you pour too much just add more body butter.

Step 3: Mix the foundation into the body butter. Beware- this can get very messy! Your done mixing when you can no longer see any white, if you are incapable of doing that then just make if look like the picture to the right!

And your done! This is super duper easy (3 steps) and completely cost effective! Tell me what you think by emailing me at glitterglamour26@gmail.com (my blog email) or commenting. Hope this helped and see you guys later!

How to: The "Lauren Conrad" Braid (aka Side French Braid)

Yes, this is another how-to have revolves around LC...but lets face it she is a style icon! Okay so this seemed super hard to me at first, but then I realized how easy it was! So in just a few steps I will get you a little closer to having the essence of Lauren- well maybe not, but at least her hair style!

Step 1: Select a piece a hair about 1-2 inches from you forehead and grab all the hair to the front of it.

Step 2: Start braiding normally- be super thorough in being tight and neat because it will make a huge difference. If you don't know how to braid then search "How to braid" on YouTube because you will most likely get a good informational tutorial.

Step 3: After braiding about twice start grabbing hair as you go along. So, when you are about to braid a piece of hair in, select another piece that is seperated and braid that piece in as well as the other one. This is called a french braid. You get it? I'm probably just confusing you...

Step 4: Once you french braid down to your ear, braid the rest of the piece normally.

Step 5: Take the braid piece of hair and pull it back almost like a headband but further up. You should have some hair at the bottom or else it looks kinda strange.

Step 6: To secure the braid take two bobby pins with the wiggly side facing up. One should be placed going down and one should be crossed over it going up. (See second picture)

And that's it! I know it's hard and if you need someone to explain it to you through a video juicystar07 has a great one- that's wear I learned it!

Luscious, soft, and beautiful hair! How?...PRODUCT RAVE

Yes, it is time for my first product rave. You must understand that my hair is LITERALLY like a jungle. I have layers, not the hairstyle, of hair that are each different from each other. This makes my hair very difficult when not straightened/blown straight because I literally have 3 hair textures. The under layer is dark, the same exact color as my brunette sister's hair (I compared the two). This under layer is naturally straight but has a weird texture but it isn't hard to work with or anything. The middle layer is where I find the majority of my issues. It has a great color, golden blonde, but it is frizzy and poofy and all over the place. My top layer is straight and light light light light light blonde.
Even though I love my hair color, the texture of my middle layer causes my hair to look puffed out and just too big. To fix this I have been straightening my hair with a flat iron, but only recently have I switched to blow drying my hair straight. I did this once without a straitening balm and failed, epically. My hair was semi-straight semi I DON'T KNOW WHAT. Needless to say, I had given up hope. Until one day I was wondering through my local pharmacy and found the product that saved my hair. I tried it out the next day after I washed my hair, and before I blew it out, and my outcome was outrageously gorgeous.
It was straight but still had volume. It wasn't frizzy at all and it had this soft texture. If I got a dime for every compliment I got on my hair that day, I would have a lot of dimes (Gosh, how much cheesier can I get??). But oh no, I'm not finished yet! This product also kept my hair just as straight as it was for the first day for the two days I went without washing my hair- it was amazing. So, you ask, what is this amazing product? And the answer is...I'm not sure? No, just kidding, this straightening balm is the Alterna Hemp Seed Straightening Balm. I have no idea what it does to my hair, but I could care less because it makes my hair look amazing. I highly highly highly recommend this if you have hard to deal with hair and flat irons just aren't working for you. I bought this product for $16 at a pharmacy, and thats the only price I have heard.
So ya, that's my first product rave! Haha

Makeup..whats the point?

I believe that makeup is a personal outlet for people who want to express themselves through a different medium than how they dress or what they look like. Makeup, I believe, is something that you can either abuse or treat just right (hint hint Goldilocks and The Three Bears reference). I do not wear heavy makeup everyday, in fact I rarely wear heavy makeup at all. If I wear makeup that makes me look like I covered my face in grease paint then I feel out of it, it isn't natural. That's a point I want to get to with this blog, makeup is something to enhance your natural features and make you feel confident. Michelle Phan wrote on her professional website that she thinks of makeup as another medium of art. I believe that is true, and I like to leave the dramatic and wacky makeup to the professionals, but lets face it its fun to play with crazy colors and experiment with products that you would never use in everyday life. I want anyone who reads this blog to know that the tips I mention are to help somebody feel confident if they have an imperfection that makes them self conscious. Maybe my Lauren Conrad tutorial help someone with imperfect skin get a glowing complexion. Maybe my Eyeliner post helped somebody decide what eyeliner to spend their money on, and what to skip. So getting to the point of this post, the point of makeup is to make oneself feel confident. For one person that may mean concealing a zit for another that may mean vibrant purple eyeshadow. I think that makeup reflects one's personality. So maybe the girl that wears that purple eyeshadow is crazy and fun and creative, she is reflecting that through her makeup. Makeup, I believe, has a point, but a different one to different people. I hope that this gave you all a little insight on what I think of makeup.

And don't worry this is my ONLY post about "the meaning of makeup" and the "i believe..." statements!! I will start doing other tips and FUN NOT BORING posts more this week!

Thanks for reading and be ready for more posts soon!
